Port Everglades Forecast
ExperimentalForecast at model stations
Choose a station and variable. Lines before model initialization are hindcast; gaps indicate missing values.
Interactive forecast map
Hourly model fields on the curvilinear model grid. Land and temporarily dry cells remain transparent over the neutral grid basemap.
How accurate is this forecast
Forecasts extend about 2 days ahead at Sebastian Inlet and about 2.5 days at Port Everglades.

Yesterday's forecast vs. what we measured
Water-level scores compare the rise and fall of the forecast with observations after removing each series' average level within the 24-hour scoring window. This avoids implying that the model and local sensor share a surveyed vertical datum, but it means these scores do not test absolute water elevation or a constant high/low offset. Use the water-level skill metrics to assess timing and variation, not flood-threshold or chart-datum accuracy.

Model forecasts are produced by FIT CPRG. Observation sources: SIPF1 water level and temperature for Sebastian Inlet — Florida Institute of Technology, Sebastian Inlet monitoring station; IRL-SB water quality (temperature, salinity) for Sebastian Inlet — Indian River Lagoon Observatory Network (IRLON), Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch, accessed via the SECOORA ERDDAP service; water level for Port Everglades — NOAA CO-OPS station 8722956. Observations are provided free of charge, are not intended for legal use, and may contain inaccuracies.
Observations are provisional and may be revised after additional quality control.
About this forecast
Model and forcing
This experimental coastal forecast is produced with Delft3D-FLOW, using atmospheric forcing from NAM and ocean boundary forcing from HYCOM.
Important limitations
- Resolution and physics simplify channels, shorelines, mixing, and rapidly changing inlet conditions.
- Errors in winds, offshore boundaries, bathymetry, or model timing can affect every displayed variable.
- Water level is a model-mean deviation, not an established tidal or survey datum.
- Forecast data downloads are not yet available.
